  1. i live in UK, we buy our wool by gramm
weight, could u tell me how much
your skeins ie in yards weighs in grams
in order to purchase yarn over here

    • Sorry I’m just now seeing this comment. I’m not sure which specific yarn you are asking about so I’m just going to give the yarn weights of the patterns I have published.

The yarn used in my Flower Market Shawl pattern (Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light) is 113g/4 oz per skein (384m/420y)

The yarn used in my Entrelac Scarf pattern (Noro Silk Garden) is 50g/1.76 oz per skein (101m/110y)

      Hope that helps!

      • My question concerns the entrelac scarf pattern. I do not understand what “turn” means, especially in row 1 where you knit one stitch and then turn?

    • Hi Rita! Sorry for the tardy reply! I didn’t see your comment!

To answer your question, yes the scarf pattern can be converted into an afghan. It just depends on how wide you want your afghan! The scarf pattern produces a scarf that’s about 6.5 inches wide (unblocked) so you can multiply that width (and, subsequently, the cast-on) as much as you’d like to get an afghan to fit your needs! For example, if you want an afghan around 45 inches wide, that’s about 7 times the width of the scarf. So you’d multiply the cast-on by 7, resulting in a cast-on of 168 stitches! The only “rule” is that the cast-on MUST be divisible by 8 because all of the squares and triangles are made of 8 stitches. So with that being the only rule, you can make it as wide or as narrow as you’d like! The pattern will work with ANY cast-on that is divisible by 8.

  2. Hi Allison,

I work for the company that produces Mutual of Omaha’s aha moment campaign; check out http://www.mutualofomaha.com/aha to see what an aha moment is and the incredible stories we’ve filmed over the last several years. As I came across your website, I couldn’t help but think that you might have an aha moment to share.

For the 5th year, we’re taking our 34-foot Airstream mobile film studio on the road again for the 2014 Aha Moment Tour, visiting 20 cities across America to capture inspirational, life-changing aha moments from folks all over the country. We are headed to Hattiesburg, MS on June 9th and 10th and would love to invite you to share what ignited your passion for art, and how your life has changed since. If you have a different story you’d like to tell, whether it’s about your work, your family or other life experiences, you’re welcome to share that instead. You would just have to step into the Airstream studio for a few minutes and tell your story on film to our tour producer. Your video will then be posted to http://www.mutualofomaha.com/aha, where you will be able to share it with your friends and family via email, Facebook and Twitter!

On June 9th and 10th from 10am to 6pm, we will be parked at the Library of Hattiesburg, at 329 Hardy Street, Hattiesburg, MS 39401. Here is a map link to the location: https://goo.gl/maps/a4jL5

We’d love to have you. Let me know as soon as possible and I can reserve your time slot.

    Many thanks!
