Let’s see, the last time this blog was getting regular attention I was a medical librarian blogging from Columbia, SC.  Now I’m a housewife (homemaker? domestic goddess? heh, maybe not yet) blogging from Hattiesburg, MS.  Mississippi?!  What in the world?!

I guess the journey began in January ’09 when Geoff got a call out of the blue from a recruiter for the University of Southern Mississippi asking if he’d be interested in applying for a position they had open.  It was very similar to the job he had at the Univ of SC but with more money and more responsibility (in other words, a really great opportunity for him).  By May it was official – we were moving to Mississippi!  We bought a house here in June (and thankfully sold our house in SC two weeks later) and moved in July.

We really do love it here.  The people are great and we’ve made so many new friends!  And being 90 minutes from New Orleans is pretty sweet, too!  But it does suck having our family and closest friends 600 miles away.  This is my first time living in another state as I spent my entire life in and around Columbia, SC.  So this has really been an adventure for me!  A great adventure!

Our money went a lot further down here than in Columbia as far as real estate goes so we were finally able to get a larger house which would allow us to add to our family.  And so we did…

This is Frank (short for Frankfurter).  He’s a miniature dachshund and we are totally smitten with him.  He will be a year old in April.  Rest assured he will be making plenty of appearances on this blog.  His cuteness is overwhelming at times so be warned.

As for me, I’ve been enjoying my role as housewife/homemaker.  I’m still learning how this whole thing works and trying to get a good routine in place so that the house isn’t neglected and neither am I.  This will lead to more time for knitting, sewing, crafting, cooking and most importantly, blogging!  My big responsibility so far has been overseeing an addition we are putting on the house.  This hasn’t been so bad lately because the renovation has come to a screeching halt.  Not good!  But that’s an entire post in itself.

Please continue to bear with me as I make adjustments to my new home here on WordPress.  I’m still cleaning up the archives but hope to finish that this weekend and maybe even get some knitting in!  I promise knitting content in my next post!  Until then, have a great weekend!
