Marlanna by Allison LoCicero

My newest shawl pattern, Marlanna, is now available!

Marlanna is a crescent-shaped shawl knit from the top down. The garter stitch body and stranded border are the perfect canvas to highlight the different colors in variegated yarns. This shawl can be knit with one skein of fingering weight yarn so it’s a perfect project to use that special skein you’ve been saving in your stash! (you know you have one… or two.. or three…) If you have more yarn, make it larger! Instructions on changing the size of the shawl are included!

I used one skein of Glow yarn by Fiberstory (in the colorway Sun Dress) to make the sample. It is a luscious fingering weight blend of Bluefaced Leicester and silk. I just love the sheen that the silk gives this yarn! It really does glow!

Marlanna would also look great in a solid color or use two colors! Using a different color for the stranded rows in the border would look amazing! Go bold with three colors! One for the body, one for the stranded rows in the border and another for the rest of the border! The stash-busting possibilities are endless! I can’t wait to see what you do with it! Don’t forget to tag your projects with #frecklesandpurls on social media!
