Well we returned from Auburn last night completely exhausted. It’s amazing how a “vacation” can be more exhausting than relaxing! Anyway, it was a fun trip overall (except for that damn football game).
Geoff and I ate at the famed Price’s Barbecue House TWICE! They have THE BEST chipped pork BBQ sandwiches (with a pickle and slaw on them) that I have EVER eaten. Also ate at Guthrie’s! That sauce they have there is like crack. Dippin’ your chicken fingers in crack. Very very good…
Of course there was even more gorging on gameday where we had the honor of tailgating with some friends at “Corn Dog Corner”
There was this guy who actually made corndogs from scratch and funnel cakes, too! I must have gained 20 pounds.
Of course, to get any parking we had to get there at 10 a.m. (for a 6 p.m. kickoff). So there was a LOT of time to fill. So to keep myself from eating EVERYTHING in sight, I knitted!
I got a good start on Ene’s Scarf (no close-up pics of it yet, though).
Geoff and I, being in a mixed marriage of sorts, enjoyed egging each other on about the upcoming game. He proudly wore his “Beat More Chikin” pin. We were both in good spirits BEFORE the game…
But when the scoreboard looked like this at halftime, my good spirits began to quickly dissipate…
What an embarrassing game. I mean REALLY humiliating! Coach Spurrier has his work cut out for him.
So anyway, the trip was really a lot of fun and I keep telling myself there’s always next year! (I think that’s the official motto of the Gamecocks)
Next post, more knitting! I promise! And I hope to start running again, too! But right now… sleeeeeeeeeeep…
