Diya

Diya is an asymmetrical triangular shawl knit from side to side. The garter stitch sections with the simple lace pattern create endless possibilities for color and design.

spoiler alert! there are NO PURL STITCHES in the pattern!

I’ve paired a variegated yarn with a coordinating solid but this shawl would look great with two solid colors or even knit completely in one color.

And, depending on the amount of yarn you have, you can easily add or remove sections to make the shawl larger or smaller.

Both charted and full written instructions are included.

Finished Size
72 inches x 22 inches (size is dependent upon gauge and how severely you block it)

Suggested Yarn: Color A (garter stitch): dyeabolical bounce, 100% superwash merino wool, color: flower shop inferno, 1 skein
Color B (lace): dyeabolical bounce, 100% superwash merino wool, color: don’t feed the bears, 1 skein

Yarn Requirements: Color A (garter stitch): approx 370 yards of heavy fingering weight yarn
Color B (lace): approx 280 yards of heavy fingering weight yarn

Needles: US size 6 (4 mm) needles (or size to obtain gauge)

Notions: yarn needle, blocking pins/wires

Gauge
20 sts and 36 rows/4 inches in garter st (blocked). Gauge is not crucial since this is not a fitted garment but changes in gauge can affect both the size of the shawl and the amount of yarn required to complete it.
